It takes a very brave soul to want a winter boudoir session outside. When Jayla told me she was willing to go out into the freezing temperatures in the dead of winter, I was super impressed. We met up at The Fort Worth Nature Refuge in Fort Worth on a deserted weekday. This location is so beautiful and definitely a favorite of mine to explore.
My take on outdoor boudoir is unique. Although boudoir largely focuses on the sensuality of the female form, I shoot from the approach of empowerment. I am a firm believer that photographing the strength of a woman will automatically capture her sensuality. There is nothing sexier than a woman who is confident and apologetically herself. This approach to photographing boudoir is especially apparent in my take on outdoor boudoir. My focus is always on strength and freedom. Whether this is seen in vulnerability, peace, or fierceness, I believe strength comes in many forms.
During Jayla’s winter boudoir session, this was exactly what I focused on. Using my sheer robes, I created a message of vulnerability. Being nude out in nature is a vulnerable act and I love connecting that to my client. From there, I focused on movement, which oftentimes translates to an air of freedom. As we chased the light through the trees, I had Jayla posed in the leaves, in the light, and among winter’s frost. I absolutely loved photographing her. She is a true winter goddess and an empowering soul.
