Painterly Boudoir
Anna contacted me wanting an artful boudoir experience. For those who do not know, I have a bachelors degree in Humanities and have a lot of art history education. Therefore, bringing art and philosophy to my boudoir style is so fulfilling to me. Having a similar background, Anna could tell we were on the same page. Moreover, after discussing her vision for the session, we decided to focus on a Renaissance inspired boudoir session. After figuring out the inspiration for her session, I went to work finding the perfect location. Furthermore, this adorable Airbnb in Rhome, TX was the perfect location.
Obtaining the Renaissance look
In the light of using Renaissance paintings as inspiration, I knew I would need a location with the right color pallet and light sources. Many paintings have a warm pallet and amber lighting. Therefore, when I saw this Airbnb, I knew it would be a great location. Between the warm woods, vintage furniture, lamps, and directional window light, I knew we could achieve a painterly look. Additionally, wardrobe is super important when trying to capture Renaissance inspired boudoir photos. Items like vintage robes, old books, and vintage mirrors are perfect for capturing artistic boudoir. Anna wanted to photograph nude for the majority of her session (what’s more Renaissance than nude?) which is something I also recommend for this type of look. Many painters focused on the nude human form and as a boudoir photographer I love doing this as well. We used the different lighting and mirror reflections to create a beautiful artful mood for her boudoir session.
Boudoir Experience
What made you choose Royal Lune Photo?
“I chose Royal Lune Photo based on Heather’s portfolio and her blog posts. Her work is gorgeous and organic, celebrating each individual no matter their perceived flaws.”
Did the session change the way you view your body, sexuality, etc?
“I feel more confident in my own skin. I don’t really see what I disliked before. I’m more confident. I wish I’d done it sooner, but I’m equally glad I waited to find the right photographer.”
What was your favorite part of the boudoir experience?
“Connecting on a personal level. No lie.”
What would you tell someone who was hesitant in booking a boudoir session?
“You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Even before I got my pictures back, I felt more beautiful and more confident. I wish I had done it sooner. Even now that I have, I’m already pondering my next session.”
Would you recommend Royal Lune Photo? Why or why not?
“Without hesitation. Heather makes one feel comfortable in their own skin. There was never an instant where I felt judged or ashamed. She has a free-flow style of working, that when paired with her level of preparation, make her very flexible for any number of situations. Heather, seemingly effortlessly, brings out the best in you and captures it on film. Her words of encouragement and affirmation do wonders for the soul.”
