Fantasy Notions Dallas Cosplay and Design

Photographing Nikki’s fantasy gown was a dream come true. When she inquired about hiring me for photographing her designs I was obviously over the moon. Nikki designs and creates fantasy costumes and cosplay designs. Not only did she design and sew this gown herself, Nikki also models her own designs! Believe me, I was floored by how talented she is. Her creations are so dreamy and she definitely nailed modeling for her Dallas fantasy photo shoot.

 

Swan Lake Fantasy Gown Inspiration

When choosing the right place for her photo shoot, I asked Nikki about her vision regarding this gown. This gown was inspired by the ballet Swan Lake. Odette, the swan princess, is doomed forever to be a swan without her prince falling in love with her. It’s a romantic and tragic story written by Tchaikovsky in the late 19th Century. Like Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake depicts two lovers who choose death over not being together. I took this information as I prepared for Nikki’s fantasy photo shoot. I wanted to depict beauty and swan-like grace along side the tones of tragedy set in Swan Lake.

“Tell me where the swans go in the winter
I need to know if the mute ones can sing.

Tell me why stars fall from the sky
I need to know if it is luck they bring.

Tell me why feathers land near you
I need to know if you’ve injured your wing.

Now, tell me where you end, my angel
For I no longer know where I begin.”
