Welcome to My Dallas Boudoir Studio: Royal Lune in Spring Bloom
As the seasons shift into longer days and golden light, I love transforming Royal Lune Studio into something that feels alive – something that breathes in spring and exhales a soft, romantic atmosphere. Located in Sanger, TX, just outside of Dallas, this is more than a space I shoot in: this is a space I built, piece by piece, to reflect the visual soul of my work.
A Spring Photography Studio Setup for Fine Art Lovers
In this blog, I’m inviting you into my dreamy spring and summer Dallas boudoir studio setup. Whether you’re a photography client or a fellow photographer searching for a Dallas photo studio rental for your next photoshoot, I hope this visual tour inspires you. Every corner, every detail, every shadow in this studio was intentionally designed to elevate your experience.
A Studio Designed with Storytelling in Mind
I often describe my work as ethereal, painterly, and romantic so I wanted the space I create in has to match that. When I built out Royal Lune Studio, my vision was to create a whimsical, vintage-inspired sanctuary for fine art photography sessions. Something that felt like stepping into a painting or a dream.
Every vintage piece here was found slowly and intentionally, whether thrifted, repurposed, and arranged to feel timeless and artistic. The furniture, the moss wall, the florals, even the dust motes that float in the afternoon sun – all of it becomes part of the image, the story, and the feeling.
Dreamy Details of the Boudoir Studio Setup
Let’s walk through some of the signature elements that define my current spring photography studio setup:
Velvet Victorian Sofa
This green and gold toned velvet Victorian-style sofa might be one of my most prized thrifted finds. I discovered it at Goodwill (Denton location) and immediately fell in love with its curved frame and ornate pattern. It photographs like a dream, especially paired with soft warm light. It’s a client favorite and one of my go-to setups for moodier shots or romantic styled images.
Vintage Chaise Lounge
Another favorite in the space is a tan tapestry-covered vintage chaise lounge I found on Facebook Marketplace. It has the most beautiful ornate style design, like something you’d find in an old French countryside home or Renaissance painting. Draping light fabrics over it gives the space that painterly softness I love so much. For clients or photographers looking for vintage textures to create a painterly look in their images, this piece delivers.
French Louis XVI Armchair
This French-style Louis XVI armchair was another lucky thrifted find. Can you believe I picked it up for $12? I’ve used it in so many sessions for seated portraits, especially when I want to bring in an editorial or regal feel. The light green floral fabric and carved details elevate any set. It’s compact, but very romantic and plays beautifully with natural light and florals.
Spring Boudoir Studio Setup: Vintage Silk Florals and Greenery
Spring wouldn’t be spring without florals- and my studio has them everywhere.
I’ve spent years collecting thrifted silk flowers and greenery that look lifelike and photograph beautifully. I layer these around furniture, create floor installations, and suspend them from the ceiling to make floral arches. I use flowers like peonies, poppies, roses, wisteria, and trailing vines to create romantic, garden-inspired setups. And because they’re faux, they’re reusable, making them eco-conscious and versatile for year-round inspiration.
These blooms are the key to creating lush, painterly backgrounds in my boudoir work.
The Moss Wall: A Living Work of Art
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably seen my giant DIY moss wall installation. It’s one of the most enchanting features of Royal Lune Studio, and I built it myself using preserved moss, foraged branches, and faux ferns. It’s designed to look like a wall of a magical forest and when paired with soft light or haze, it truly transports you to a lush forest.
This moss wall anchors the entire studio and is the perfect setting for fine art photography, spring-inspired sets, and even fantasy themes. It feels lush, grounding, and completely unique. Whether you’re shooting for your brand or booking a private session, the moss wall creates instant atmosphere.
Light and Mood: Why Lighting Is Everything
I use a combination of Neewer LED panels and an Amaran video light to shape the mood in every session. In spring and summer, I lean into soft daylight tones and let natural light fill the room. I use sheer curtains to diffuse harsh light, giving the space a soft, dreamy glow. Although studio lighting is not included in my studio rentals for other photographers, wall mounted light stands are provided so you can use your own lighting.
I also love using haze, sheer fabrics, or florals in front of the light to add softness and diffusion. Lighting transforms the room from editorial to ethereal in just a few adjustments, and I always tailor the setup to the mood my client wants to create.

not present on the year
At any other period –
When March is scarcely here…”
