Meet Hailey, a real life goddess. When she told me she had a vintage wedding dress made by a labor worker in the 20s, I knew we would make some magic. Upon starting the shoot, however, I soon realized it would be magical no matter what she wore. I could not be happier with this vintage styled shoot with lyre at Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge.
My husband and I love Blind Guardian, a metal band from Germany. One of my all time favorite songs by them is The Bard Song. It brings me to a different time, a different world. A world where fantastical themes are true and real. It transports me to a place of nostalgia and longing. I could go on and on about it and all the feelings it gives me as an artist, but it’s better if you look at Hailey’s vintage styled shoot, which were inspired by the song.
I bought this Irish Lyre for my husbands birthday one year. He loves old Nordic and Celtic instruments. We display it on a shelf in our house as a reminder to yearn for adventure and storytelling. One of our favorite book series is The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. The story stars a bard who plays a flute, telling stories in pubs and inns throughout the series. We love stories and those who tell them. It’s something that inspires me to create. The nature center and refuge in Fort Worth was the perfect location and Hailey was the perfect muse for this project. She was beautiful, inspiring, and truly took on the character of a bard.
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards’ songs will remain
Tomorrow will take it away
The fear of today
It will be gone
Due to our magic songs
