Some of my favorite sessions are those that involve people and their pets. This in-home lifestyle pet portrait session in Fort Worth in particular was very heartwarming to photograph. Lauren and Piper have an incredible bond. Getting Piper as a very small puppy, Lauren has been the only thing she knows. They have moved across the country from Atlanta together and have gone through so any milestones as well. Those who have strong bonds with their own animals can understand when I say that relationships like this are very special. Piper has been a source of great comfort and support to Lauren throughout her adult life. Whether it was a relationship gone sour or a job that didn’t work out, Piper has been there. That is what makes our pets so important. They are always there for us, ready for a snugly nap or an afternoon adventure.
She calms everything wrong with me and excited everything that is right. It’s like this tiny little creature is somehow able to fit mountains of love and comfort to me. She settles me. She is my security and the funniest little weirdo I have ever known. Knowing Piper is knowing joy itself.
It is pretty comical that so many people have a negative opinion of Pit Bulls. So many of them are like Piper, adorable souls with so much love to give. I love writing stories like Lauren and Piper, because I can hope that stories like theirs will lessen the ugly stigma the world has given these sweet pups. I hope you enjoy seeing the two of them, unicorn mask, bear suit, and all.
